On February 7, 2022 Governer John Carney announced that facial coverings will no longer be required within all public schools across delaware beggining March 31, 2022. However, school districs are still allowed to enforce masking at their own account. Masks are crucial to stop the spread of COVID-19, and while 69.4% of people are double vaccinated, only 29.1% have their booster; It is also important to add that only 10.1% of people ages 5-17 are vaccinated, according to Delaware.gov. There have been over 5.6 million reports of child COVID-19 cases since September of 2021, according to Mayo Clinic. This petition serves to ensure that the Red Clay Consolidated School District continues to keep teachers and students safe, as well as to participate in the fight of stopping COVID-19.
