Reject hate and re-invite Fr. James Martin to speak at CUA

Fr. James Martin SJ was scheduled to speak on "Encountering Jesus: Meeting the Jesus of History and the Christ of Faith" at the Theology College of the Catholic University of America on Oct 4 2017. He's since been canceled after a loud and uncharitable minority complained on social media about his unrelated book "Building a Bridge" which simply and bravely called on Christians to treat LGBT persons with more respect.
This type of behavior does not reflect either Jesus' teachings or Catholic teachings and is harmful to our mission as bearers of the Gospel as it directly alienates LGBT persons who are just as entitled to God's Love and the Church's respect as anyone else.
Caving to this pressure validates this un-loving behavior and thus we call on CUA Theological College to reinstate Fr. James Martin's invitation to speak.
