Catholic Schools of Staten Island and Brooklyn: Honor Scholarships of Villa Students
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
We are writing in light of the recent announcement of St. John Villa’s closing. This loss of our Catholic School community is truly a sad announcement for all. It disheartens us most to hear the stories of Villa’s students who are scholarship recipients whose families are facing the reality of the termination of their children’s Catholic educations. School choice is extremely important for all school-aged children and adolescents, and especially so for those who strive to maintain Catholic values as central to education.
We believe that, in keeping with the charitable values of the Catholic faith, Catholic schools of Staten Island and Brooklyn should consider honoring the scholarships of the students of St. John Villa Academy at both the Elementary and High School levels.
Other Catholic schools such as Bishop Kearney High School in Brooklyn have publicly come forward to welcome St. John Villa Academy’s students into their family and have pledged to honor the scholarships of those who were receiving them.
We urge you to consider our request and to encourage other Catholic schools in the area to follow suit.
