Improve racial education and student policy in CEDP schools

Recently, Parramatta Marist High School observed an appalling racial attack. A group of students yelled racist remarks and assaulted their classmate, whilst participating in the "George Floyd Challenge", inspired by the killing of George Floyd, a black man murdered by United States police officers.

Local police launched an investigation, and the school itself suspended/expelled multiple students who were depicted within the video.

Schools under the Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta (CEDP) are known for its communities that promote multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusivity. However, the recent incident goes against the reputable and welcoming community that the CEDP has to offer.

This petition advocates towards a change that will enhance the education of the students under the CEDP, ultimately leading to an increase of awareness and understanding surrounding racial and societal issues. We acknowledge the response towards this incident and do not seek to undermine the school of Parramatta Marist or the schools under the CEDP. The ultimate goal is to simply achieve an improved education that will enable students to explore the many issues that occur in our vastly changing world.

In 2020, racist behaviour should not be tolerated and must be abolished, calling for the shift from reputation to education.

The advocacy for change starts with this petition.
