Save Long Island Thomas Family
being evicted from disabled family housing by
Catholic Charities !
My name is Alexandra I created this petition and a Go Fund Me account for my best friend and her family that are being wrongfully evicted from the Thea Bowman Residence by Catholic Charities , disabled housing in Amityville, Long Island, NY.. The state has recently granted the family a portable section 8 voucher. Funds being raised are going to 1st months rent and deposit. We are desperately seeking outside housing because shelters do not accept hospital beds.
Disabled and housebound, being evicted by simply presenting an immediate need for a Reasonable Accommodation under the FHA law, Ms. Thomas was in dire need of a live in aid ordered by her Physician. Catholic Charities along with Stanan Management unnecessarily dragged her through court over 2 years causing her and her family, in the end, to lose their housing. This mom and former nurse can not survive being thrown in a shelter Ms Thomas is disabled because of chronic illness, and is also in need of surgery for a large Uterine tumor that was diagnosed this past year. With her condition, this mom suffers from a debilitating combination of disorders that can be life threatening. At anytime she can go into Spontaneous Congestive Heart Failure. She therefore, wears a life alert button ordered by the State. Catholic Charities is throwing this family into the street. Despite her chronic illness she continues to remain productive and volunteer from her laptop helping many, many organizations on long Island by writing grants, fundraising and posting on social media. Helping countless Long Islanders in need of resources, food, medical equipment and so much more..all while being housebound and sometimes bed-bound. Please help this family. Needing a reasonable accommodation when you are disabled should NEVER initiate a lease violation causing a family to lose housing.
******THIS MUST BE A BIG MISTAKE !!!!!!!!******
