Did you know that on average around ten people die every day from British road accidents and there are around a hundred more injuries? Additionally, around 70% of these crashes happen on roads with speed limits of 30 mph or less.

These are the very same roads that our young sons and daughters could be innocently playing on. Yet, our councils and boroughs sit there doing absolutely nothing towards fixing this huge issue. Furthermore, I would not struggle to name a situation where my sleep cycle has been viciously disrupted by inconsiderate teenagers on the road outside my house.

Speed bumps would go a long way to fixing this. People would have to slow down and we could remain comfortable in knowing that our children are safe, also. Speed signs would also only support this cause further. At 40 mph, 9 out of 10 people hit by a car will die. At 20 mph, this figure reduces significantly to only 1 out of 10. 20 mph speed signs would therefore, would save lives; despite being such an easy and cheap thing to introduce.

Take action!
