Residents' petition for home protection or Buyout with DuPont Hydraulic Well Surcharge

DuPont plans on constructing an experimental, underground-horizontal well along the train tracks (Barbara Drive). It will dump millions of gallons of "treated" water into the Pompton Lake, which serves as the reserve water source for the Wanaque Reservoir. The water will then be carried into neighboring towns and eventually emptied into the Passaic River. With no backup plan, at least 450 homes in the area will be affected... if it fails, residents will be faced with permanent damage. Excessive water pressure can potentially cause seepage/flooding in the basements, structural damage to the homes and a heightened level of exposure to contaminants.
This horizontal well is a TEST and has never been built in a residential area before. We were told the plans are foolproof, however we are not permitted insurance; in the event that our homes flood it would be considered a "man made disaster."
We need the community to come together to tell DuPont we will not be subjected to their tests anymore. Enough is enough.
