Wenjing Zhang started this petition to Professor Sir Paul Curran & Ms Julia Palca (Cass Business School)

UK universities have been switched to remote teaching and alternative online assessments due to COVID-19. What universities care most about, should be maximizing students’ safety and protecting their rights.

According to our investigation, the majority of universities provided 24 hours for students to complete a single online assessment while we had strict time frame to do the paper. Moreover, the awarding degree for Cass Business School seems more harsh and unfair compared to other universities given the unprecedented situation students find themselves in. Students do not have the same access to the internet. Almost all the universities (including G5) set 60% for Merit, while we are required to get 65% with no fails at the first attempt to achieve Merit.

Especially after the announcement of change of school name, the situation became much harder for us. We, students and staff members of City, University of London, do understand the reasons for name changing and respect all the considerations. At the same time, we would like to get the same awarding criteria and opportunities as students in other schools, hoping to get through this tough period.

We all know that our business school always put students at top priority, therefore we believe that our voice of heart will be heard. We hereby demand City, University of London to scale down the awarding degree for Merit to 60.
