Provide a viable western entrance to Berwick Chase Primary School

Provide a viable western entrance to Berwick Chase Primary School
Casey Council have approved hundreds of homes for residency in the Burnly Gardens and Eden Rise residential estates, but refuse to acknowledge Berwick Chase's longstanding western entrance as official. Due to this, a high percentage of the schools approximately 900 students have to walk through a grass/mud ditch to enter the school.
Recently, the school advocated for the commencement of the adjacent community sports oval, and unfortunately, Casey Council took the cheaper approach in trying to combine efforts for this oval to accommodate the school entrance - and have suggested to the school that we close the existing western entrance, and enter into the school from a proposed entrance of theirs approximately 90m further away from the current entrance - and one that does not link to any current school pathways (which may result in school facility funding being forced to be used to address this).
Primarily, Casey Council need to acknowledge the long-standing existing western entrance, and build a cross-over to:
- Ensure kids do not have to walk through the mud to get to school
- Can be witnessed by parents entering school in the adjacent parking
- Facilitate required disability access for students and parents/guardians
- Ensure current gate retains it's volumes, whereas a poorly placed gate would deter usage and drive volume on other parking/entrances
Secondary to this, Casey Council should reconsider the placement of the road crossing, which is being built adjacent to the new sporting oval - an oval with no dedicated club, whilst the school next door calls out for better accessibility for it's students.
Call on Casey Council to listen to the requirements of the thousands of people who attend, utilise or a linked to this community resource at Berwick Chase Primary School.
A survey for Parents & Guardians was performed by the School Council which showed the majority of parents support this initiative.
