Cascade School District Dress Code Reformation
Cascade School District Dress Code Reformation

Hello, students, parents, and community members of the Cascade School District. You may be aware of the district-wide dress code, and what it entails, but if you are not, some rules include; no shirt straps less wide than three fingers, no showing of the midriff, no skirts or shorts that go above the end of a student’s fingertips. Many students, most often girls, have been dress-coded for these outdated rules. When one student asked why they were to cover up their shoulders after being dress coded for wearing a spaghetti strap top, a faculty member told them it was for their own safety. This dress code needs to be re-evaluated, because of what it entails and what it stands for.
It is outdated and disproportionately targets girls. We need to stop policing what girls and women wear and stop sending a message to young boys that what a young girl chooses to wear could somehow affect her safety. Please consider signing in support of this student-led petition to be presented to the Cascade school board for consideration. Thank you!
