Help keep a full time music teacher at Carrollton Elementary School.

We would like Miss Lydia Roades to be reinstated to her hired full-time music teaching position at Carrollton Elementary. We believe the music and band programs will suffer by only having a part-time teacher at the elementary level. Also, we may lose her altogether if she gets offered a full-time position somewhere else. She does not want to leave Carrollton Elementary and we do not want her to leave, but she has to do what is best for herself and her career.

Miss Roades not only teaches K-5 music, she co-teaches 5th grade band with Miss Runyan, assists with concerts, camps, plays and competitions. She accompanies Miss Runyan to parades and community events. Many of these activities are on her own time and are not required in her position as music teacher.

Our music and band program is growing. More students are getting involved in the school concerts, contests, the school musical and community events. It is easier for the students to get involved with music, chorus, band and the musical, if they are exposed to music and are encouraged at a younger age. This year, St. John's students were able to try out for the spring musical. We would also like them to be able to    co-op band at the elementary level.

We do not want the music program to suffer. Music is for everyone, no matter his or her physical or mental capability. Music is present in every important event of our lives, birthdays, holidays, church services, patriotic celebrations, sporting events, graduations, weddings and funerals. Music is something we use almost everyday throughout our lives.

Please encourage our school board  to reconsider hiring Miss Roades back to her hired position of full-time elementary music teacher!

Thank-you from the Carrollton School Music Boosters!!
