Keep Indian Creek Golf Course

In May of this year, North Texas saw record rainfall that led to the flooding of numerous municipal golf courses in the area.  All of these have been or are in the process of being repaired and reopened EXCEPT Indian Creek Golf Club, a 36-hole facility that was opened to Carrollton residents and North Texas golfers more than 30 years ago.  An anchor in our community, Indian Creek GC resides on the Trinity River flood plain, a tract of land that would be difficult, if not impossible to otherwise develop.  Bringing a net income of over $1M to the city each year, Indian Creek GC has delivered not only a positive economic return to the City, it has also brought outside dollars to our area businesses that would otherwise go elsewhere.  For the 27 homes that  border the Indian Creek fairways, and the thousand other homes that can boast such close proximity to the golf course, the additional values the course brings to their properties is measurable.

At the September 1st meeting of the Carrollton City Council, it became quite evident that the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem, want to bulldoze Indian Creek GC in favor of development, and possibly a token green space.  The residents of Carrollton, TX cannot allow this to happen.  What message would destroying this valuable city commodity send to those whose home values depend upon it?  What would this communicate to our youth golf teams, including our top 10 ranked Hebron Hawks, if we get rid of this Carrollton institution in favor a few more homes or apartments?  Isn't the "quality" of our community, and the diversity of its offerings, more important that wringing every last possible penny out of the land within our borders?

Send a positive message to the thousands of couples that have been married with this beautiful course as the backdrop for their most memorable occasion.  Send a message to the thousands of causes and charities that have been the recipient of funds raised at tournaments at Indian Creek.  Let your voice be heard loud and clear by the Carrollton City Council, your local councilman, and the at-large council members, including the mayor, that will be dependent upon your votes in 2017.  Please sign this petition not only to preserve this irreplaceable civic asset, but also to send a message to our local government that we, the residents, are your constituents....not some slick-talking developer that has or promises to contribute to the campaigns of our chosen representatives.  Thank you.
