Increase funding from Canadian government to improve mental health in Indigenous youth

Indigenous youth in Canada have been affected by the consequences of discrimination and racism in the past and the present. Indigenous youth who live remotely in their communities do not have proper resources, such as safe homes, schools and recreational activities because of the lack of funding from the Canadian government. There are serious mental health issues within these communities, such as depression, suicide and addiction; however, there is a lack of mental health services to help overcome these illnesses. We need to urge the Canadian government to increase funding to indigenous communites to improve the mental health support offered. Indigenous communities will be able to hire indigenous health workers with traditional knowledge and create community groups and centres to provide the best therapeutic care for these indigenous youth. By signing this petition, YOU will be creating a safer and supportive environment for these children, teenagers and young adults to be successful in their future.
