Councils are now taking £26 a week from adults with learning disabilities who attend daytime activity and learning centres . Currently adults with disabilities are left with £52 a week for clothing , toiletries and recreational spending such as days out or the cinema. Underfunded Councils throughout the country are now taking £26 of this leaving just £26 a week for all the above I am a parent of a young adult with learning disabilities and also work in a day center were adults with learning disabilities learn new skills such as cooking and meet with friends. Since the introduction of these charges I have witnessed a number of individuals who have stopped attending mostly those who live in independent housing who simply cannot afford the charges and are missing out on mixing with friends and learning new skills .
