Lower speed limit Limebank Road between Spratt and Earl Armstrong Intersections

Lower speed limit Limebank Road between Spratt and Earl Armstrong Intersections
Dear Ms. Meehan,
We the residents of Allora, a new 4 separate low rise building condo project with a total of 64 units adjacent to Limebank Road, request your assistance and guidance in mitigating the road traffic noise and physically detectable vibrations occurring as a direct result. The severity of the road noise pollution to residents is to the level where physical vibrations are detected in the units closest to the roadway and ceiling ventilation and fire sprinkler caps fall to the floor when vehicles pass at high rates of speed and/or are of heavy weight (trucks, transports etc.). Unfortunately, Limebank Road also attracts road racers especially after dusk presumably due to its length, straight path, and 80km/hr. speed limit which is largely ignored. St Francis Xavier High School is very near the Spratt and Limebank Road intersection as is the new LRT station under construction at Earl Armstrong and Limebank Road. Cortile Private is centered between these two intersections. The High School and LRT station factors alone may suggest a lower speed limit might be appropriate for this section of Limebank Road and warrants further assessment. Of geological note, there are two bridges abutting either side of the entrance to Cortile Private, off of Limebank. These bridges go over Mosquito Creek and Ravine which surround the Allora site, the bridge to the south side of the project has significantly fractured and heaved sidewalk pavement and might suggest the vibrations felt by residents may also be impacting that area of the bridge.
You are in a unique position to present our concerns to the appropriate City of Ottawa department managers to pursue an assessment and evaluation of this significant quality of life and safety concern to then apply solutions for this issue.
