As currently proposed, the Alante project would be a 4-story apartment building on top of an
existing two-story parking garage at a height of about 76 ft at street level.
Carmel Mountain Ranch is a suburban Master Planned Community with the tallest apartment
buildings at about 40 ft. The entire community was planned 35 years ago and gave
consideration to building types and placement when it was designed. Currently, 25% of the
units in Carmel Mountain Ranch are apartments. Alante would be about 30 feet higher than any
other apartment building in Carmel Mountain Ranch, with only a 5 to 8 foot set back from the
existing two-story condominium and zero setback and 76 foot height on the sidewalk at Rancho
Carmel Drive.

Let’s get some attorneys who live in CMR to tie this thing up in court so the land can not get rezoned. If the developers see they have an uphill battle at some point it won’t make financial sense for them to move forward. How about a class action lawsuit against the owner of the property? Didn’t the Hwang family get some huge tax breaks to change the golf course to a desert scape, low water consumption? They took the tax break then close the course. Are there any environmentalist that can help out? Do we have endangered frogs on the golf course? Can our already over crowed schools support more students? Can our fire department support more homes. Can our sewer system and roads support more homes? Let’s go after the 4 of 5 city officials that voted for approving Re-zoning. Let’s elect new city officials to replace them.

Have lived with a fairway in my backyard for 20 years. Living on the course was one of the main reasons I purchased the house. It was so beautiful. I put up with windows breaking and all to live here. Now not only is this an embarrassing eyesore but I’m sure it will cause our housing prices in the area to decline!! Can’t believe it. It was a great natural firebreak and added protection from any fires spreading. Adding homes would impact traffic, be an eyesore and degrade our housing values besides taking away a very positive addition to CMR.
