Currently, The Carmel Clay Schools WiFi connection blocks access to many websites that students and teachers both use for school and communication purposes. The blocking of so many websites makes access to the internet within our schools practically useless. Some websites and apps that have been blocked include: Bing, Discord, Canvas, YouTube, along with countless websites that students attempt to use for research projects, which massively limits their resources. The blocking of Communication tools such as Discord is also harmful because platforms like these allow for communication between families, as well as for teachers and clubs to communicate with students. Additionally, every single teacher has a Canvas page, and also use YouTube videos for educational purposes, so blocking these actively discourages learning. Students should be able to access the internet as needed without having to work around the barriers put in place by the very people whose job it is to educate them.
