Tell Carlton & United Breweries - Don't let Mt Wellington be defaced with a cable car

Carlton & United Breweries have been asked by a private company for use of their land, to build a cable car from South Hobart to the top of Mount Wellington (kunanyi). This inappropriate and culturally insensitive development would "scar" the mountain, ruining the majestic view of Mount Wellington that the citizens of Hobart enjoy. Not only would the cable car be an ugly scar upon the mountain, but it would ruin the sense of wilderness Hobartons come to enjoy on the mountain.
The Cascade Brewery, now owned by Carlton & United Breweries, has a long history with Mount Wellington, once owning a large portion of what is now the mountain park. At the dawn of the twentieth century many of Cascade's employees built huts in the forested mountain slopes as places to enjoy the tranquil beauty of the mountain. Today Cascade proudly displays images of Mount Wellington on their products.
We ask Carlton & United Breweries to SAY NO to use of their land by those wishing to profit from such insensitive development on Mount Wellington. This cable car proposal is not in line with the pristine and iconic image of Mount Wellington displayed on Cascade products.
