Well I’m just going to start this off straight, this petition is about the dress code, and how it is unjust between the boys side and the girls side. First I want to say that I support the dress code, and that there should be at least some restrictions on what students can wear, but the dress code that we have for MMSD is unjust for the boys side and the girl side.

     First of all, the dress code says, and I quote, "Students must wear their pants at a level that does not expose undergarments." But boys at our school sag their pants so their underwear is showing all day long, and don't get dress-coded. But my good friend Lily has been dress-coded 4 times. The first time for not wearing a bra (apparently her nipples were distracting, but boys wear shirts that show their nipples all the time, and they don't get dress coded, and sometimes the MALE staff wear shirts like that also), the second time for wearing a bra and showing her bra straps, the third time for showing her stomach, because she was wearing a crop top (what is wrong with a stomach? Was her belly button too sexy and distracting to boys and the staff?). The fourth time for her shorts not being longer than her finger tips by less than an inch, and the length of the shorts is not even on the dress code.

     Secondly, I feel that the dress code at some points is too strict, such as not being able to wear a crop top to school. I personally (along with a lot of other people) think that there is nothing wrong with showing a little bit of their stomach and belly button. But to a point, girls should not be having their shirts cropped up to their breasts so it is just like wearing a bra.  Or showing a bra strap, it is just a strap of something girls wear to help support their breasts under their shirts, it is something that the district (or at least Cherokee Heights Middle School) has issue with, if you don’t wear a bra, your nipples are to distracting (when boys wear shirts that show their nipples through the fabric all the time, and even the male staff does that), or when you do wear a bra, and you show a strap, that is also an issue. 

     In conclusion, I fully support the idea of the dress code, but I think that it is unfair to the girls on some of the rules, but the boys have barely any.  If you support this petition, please sign this, but if not, that you for taking the time to read this.

     Bueno, voy a empezar con esto directamente, esta petición es sobre el código de vestimenta y cómo es injusto entre el lado de los chicos y el de las chicas. Primero, quiero decir que apoyo el código de vestimenta y que debería haber al menos algunas restricciones sobre lo que los estudiantes pueden usar, pero el código de vestimenta que tenemos para MMSD es injusto para los niños y las niñas.

     En primer lugar, el código de vestimenta dice, y cito: "Los estudiantes deben usar sus pantalones a un nivel que no exponga la ropa interior". Pero los niños de nuestra escuela se cuelgan los pantalones para que su ropa interior se vea todo el día y no se pongan códigos de vestimenta. Pero mi buena amiga Lily ha sido codificada 4 veces. La primera vez por no usar sostén (aparentemente sus pezones los distraían, pero los niños usan camisas que muestran sus pezones todo el tiempo, y no tienen códigos de vestimenta, y a veces el personal MASCULINO también usa camisas como esa), la segunda tiempo para usar un sostén y mostrar los tirantes del sostén, la tercera vez para mostrar su estómago, porque llevaba un top corto (¿qué le pasa al estómago? ¿Su ombligo era demasiado sexy y distraía a los niños y al personal?). La cuarta vez que sus pantalones cortos no son más largos que la punta de sus dedos por menos de una pulgada, y la longitud de los pantalones cortos ni siquiera está en el código de vestimenta.

     En segundo lugar, creo que el código de vestimenta en algunos puntos es demasiado estricto, como no poder llevar una blusa corta a la escuela. Yo personalmente (junto con muchas otras personas) creo que no hay nada de malo en mostrar un poco de su estómago y ombligo. Pero hasta cierto punto, las niñas no deberían tener la camisa recortada hasta el pecho, por lo que es como usar un sostén. O mostrando una tira de sostén, es solo una tira de algo que las niñas usan para ayudar a sostener sus senos debajo de sus camisas, es algo con lo que el distrito (o al menos la Escuela Intermedia Cherokee Heights) tiene problemas, si no usa un sostén, tus pezones distraen demasiado (cuando los niños usan camisas que muestran sus pezones a través de la tela todo el tiempo, e incluso el personal masculino lo hace), o cuando usas sostén y muestras un tirante, eso es un problema .

     En conclusión, apoyo totalmente la idea del código de vestimenta, pero creo que es injusto para las chicas en algunas de las reglas, pero los chicos apenas tienen. Si apoya esta petición, por favor firme, pero si no es así, por tomarse el tiempo para leerla.
