Seth Haller started this petition to Carlsbad city council

COMMON SENSE CARLSBAD IS LOOKING TO STOP THE WINDSOR POINT PROJECT BASED ON THE FOLLOWING CONCERNS:
- KIDS PLAYING AND GOING TO SCHOOL NEAR A HIGH CONCENTRATION OF UNSTABLE INDIVIDUALS
- CARLSBAD MISAPPROPRIATING FUNDS THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO GO TO HOMELESS & LOW INCOME VETERANS
- CARLSBAD CITY COUNCIL HAVING ILLICIT MEETINGS WITH THE DEVELOPER TO KEEP PROJECT CHANGES SECRET FROM THE PUBLIC
- PROJECT BEING BUILT BY A DEVELOPER THAT HAS A HISTORY INAPPROPRIATE FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS / BRIBES MEANT TO INFLUENCE APPROVALS OF THEIR  DEVELOPMENTS
-  PROPERTY BEING MANAGED BY A DEVELOPER THAT HAS NO HISTORY OF MANAGING A FACILITY HOUSING INDIVIDUALS WITH SEVERE MENTAL ILLNESS
- THE VALUE OF YOUR HOME BEING GREATLY AFFECTED DUE TO THE PROXIMITY TO A FACILITY OF THIS KIND
- INCREASED CRIME AND POLICE PRESENCE THE FACILITY MAY CAUSE
- INDIVIDUALS LIVING AT THE SITE THAT COULD BE ON ILLEGAL DRUGS AND/OR EVEN SELLING DRUGS OUT OF THE FACILITY

WINDSOR POINT BACKGROUND:

The Windsor Point project was sold to the community as a service for “homeless veterans and lower income veterans and their families” and obtained Carlsbad public funds from the City restricted for veteran use in order to build it. However, the developer failed to obtain the remaining funding needed and took funding from a program called "No Place Like Home" that requires servicing a homeless population with “Serious Mental Illness” and "Seriously Emotionally Disturbed" youth. The location they are requesting to place this 24/7 open facility is in a quiet, family residential neighborhood. The community was not provided ample notice about this bait and switch and does not want this revised facility placed near our families, near our kids, or near Jefferson Elementary School. We are in favor of helping the homeless problem but we feel this is the absolute wrong location to shelter the serious mentally ill.
