Ald. Carlos Rosa: Run for Governor of Illinois

Daniel Biss launched his gubernatorial campaign in an effort to bring progressive change to Illinois, and vowed to run his campaign without the influence of big money or pressure from the political establishment. Thousands of Illinoisans were ecstatic when they found out that Biss selected Chicago Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa, the youngest - and most progressive - member of the City Council, as his choice for Lieutenant Governor.
The state establishment did not like this choice. Corporate-backed Congressman Brad Schneider rescinded his endorsement of the Biss ticket, citing his running mate's stance on Israel (an issue with absolutely no relevance to the position of Lieutenant Governor of Illinois), and on September 6, the nominally "anti-establishment" Biss gave in to establishment pressure and dropped Rosa from the ticket.
Between a spineless Biss, a millionaire member of the Kennedy dynasty, and a hilariously corrupt billionaire who is trying to buy himself the nomination, Illinois Democrats have no good choice in next year's gubernatorial primary among the candidates with a serious chance at winning the nomination.
That's why we're calling on progressive Carlos Ramirez-Rosa to launch his own bid for the Governorship. A Governor Rosa would be the first LGBT Governor of Illinois, the first Latino Governor of Illinois, the youngest Governor in the United States, and possibly the most progressive Governor currently in office. With the help of activists from Bernie Sanders' 2016 campaign infrastructure and a progressive wave currently being built up nationwide as we speak, Rosa would have a serious chance at winning both the Democratic primary and the general election, and no one else in Illinois has the potential to curtail both both the business interests that dominate Springfield as well as the political establishment itself.
