Why this petition matters

Started by M G

Hello, my partner and I are students at a school in New York City. We have been working on our Quality of Life proposal through the WISE Foundation, and we have decided to create a petition for our issue regarding, the high usage of Bisphenol A in food packaging supplies affecting many individuals' health in Brooklyn.

Bisphenol-A (BPA), is a chemical mainly used in polycarbonate plastics, many found in plastic containers used for food, drinks, and even found in baby products. To add on, parents lack knowledge about Bisphenol-A, causing them to allow their children to have exposure to BPA. For instance, when babies are born, parents tend to use pacifiers, pampers, baby bottles, and other baby products without knowing if there is the presence of BPA. In other words, the lack of companies informing their customers of chemicals in their products, also, the lack of knowledge of some individuals have impacted their health and has led to the continuation of this problem.

However, we decided to create this petition with the hopes for change to occur, and inform individuals that some products don't indicate if there is the presence of BPA, increasing their chance to be exposed to Bisphenol-A.
