Maneet Nagra started this petition to Carleton University (Reputation Enhancement Project)

The newly proposed logos have sparked a debate amongst students, but there seems to be a large number of students demanding the school's coat of arms to be the new logo. Currently, the coat of arms is only available on ceremonial documents. Students would like to see this logo on our merchandise.

The majority of Carleton students can agree that the new proposed logos are hideous. They look like a bank logo from the 80s or 90s. There is no creativity whatsoever. It looks like it was made by a lazy high school student who just learned how to make designs on a computer. They are so depressing to look at, I am almost concerned for the mental health of whoever designed these soulless designs. Where is the motivation? There are so many talented artists in our school who would have been willing to put the time and effort into making a new logo. Since when do three lines represent water, I almost choked when they said it was water. I would also like to add, who in the world is thought that the most tasteless logo to ever exist would represent "inclusivity" and "forward-thinking". The new logos make it look like a community college or a last chance university. This logo just makes this place feel like a dump. This is such a cheap logo and a very bad look for the university.

Here is a description of the logo:

THE CREST: Phoenix rising from the flames — symbolizes the renewing of learning from older foundations

THE SHIELD: Open book on a maple leaf — signifies that the university is in the nation’s capital and that learning is open to all who wish to partake of it.

THE SUPPORTERS: A pair of ravens — symbolizing boldness, determination, teamwork, communication, passion, commitment, intelligence, creativity and ingenuity.

THE MOTTO: Ours the Task Eternal — taken from the Walt Whitman poem “Pioneers”; ties in with the eternal quality of the phoenix

Why wouldn't you want the coat of arms to be the new logo? It makes the university look prestigious. If you agree with me please sign this petition.
