Use the $700 million in capital funding to build a new healthcare facility in east Brooklyn

Most of us are aware of the health care needs of the east and central Brooklyn communities as well as the “Safety Net” services that are needed in these areas, which have a combined population of approximately one million residents. From East New York to Canarsie, Brownsville to East Flatbush, and Bushwick to Crown Heights, several generations of community residents have been born in east Brooklyn. These residents have turned to the current hospital, doctors, emergency room, family care centers, and Urgent Care Center for medical matters large and small.
Building a new facility will radically transform the lives of our residents who deserve a world-class facility to provide quality healthcare. The building will be a positive symbol of hope for future generations and serve as the backbone of success and change. At stake are not just brick and mortar which comprises a new hospital, but the fundamental principles of equality and fairness for the community of east Brooklyn, as well as its ability to overcome hardships. This new hospital will not only provide access to care, but also jobs and an improved quality of life for the residents of east Brooklyn.
