Since the start of the pandemic, carinderia and panaderia owners have experienced losses in their stores; during the COVID quarantine, most of their customers, students and professionals, no longer go out, nor is the option for on-site purchases encouraged. With the trend for work from home and online learning, the new normal calls for businesses to adapt given the possibility of this being the permanent normal.

As people, firms, and institutions transition online, people are often occupied with work and duties. This is why we believe that there is a need for carinderias to transition online too: our affordable yet healthy meal options.

Our objective is to increase the visibility of the carinderia/panaderia stores that are not that accessible during the time of COVID. We plan to do this through a mobile app called Sulit.

The mobile app, SULIT, is an online platform solely catered to bringing you your home-cooked meal needs through carinderias and panaderias near you conveniently and at an affordable price. Inspired by the word “Sulit,” referring to “worth it”; each transaction you make with the Carinderia and Panaderia through the app translates to impact and meaning for these local stores; impact that is measured and tracked in the SULIT app itself. The worth of one transaction benefits both the customer and local store owner the same, “Sulit talaga na pagtulong”.
