My son recently had to have a major operation, but the care before and after in hospital was shocking. There wasn’t any support of any kind. Had I not have been there I hate to think what would have happened.  He has a learning disability, global delay, autism, profound hearing impairment with no speech. I just want to raise awareness, as not all disabilities are visible and I feel that there doesn’t seem to be any awareness of how to support people who are vulnerable and maybe don’t have somebody to represent them to explain their needs. I have started this petition in hope of making people aware and to help support this petition by raising the question of why there doesn’t seem to be any specialised training or knowledge of how to care for disabled people in hospital.
