Data is cheap. But privacy shouldn't be. How many of us get dozens of marketing messages from companies on our mobile phones?

I was getting two messages a week from EaseMyTrip.com, a Delhi based company. Reaching out over social media chat, email and phone, I requested them to take my number off their list and queried where they got my number from. In a total disregard for transparency, they gave me vague information like 'some campaign, event or channel partner.' Then they began to ignore my attempts to contact them and seek clarification. Why? What is there to hide about their data sources? Especially if EaseMyTrip.com has been setting their alarm clock twice weekly and marketing to me without fail.

As if they weren't seeming shady enough, I got ANOTHER marketing message after asking them specifically to remove my number from their LIST and they emailed saying they had! It doesn't seem like an issue to be pulling your hair out over, but this is exactly how companies disregard the need to be transparent in their rush to rake in more customers. 

I want EaseMyTrip.com to permanently remove my number from their database AND tell me how it got there in the first place. We have a right to know how our information is being sought out for marketing.
