As guarantors and SLU students who have rented in the Coronado Place and Towers, we are concerned about the safety and security of residents and the lack of responsiveness of ownership and management to these concerns, both presently, and for a number of years historically.
Students and guarantors have continued to report an unacceptable lack of responsiveness to serious issues concerning maintenance and security:
- an unsecured parking garage with a history of criminal incidents and promises made and broken re: security gates, fences, improved cameras and lighting, and 24x7 surveillance;
- poor lighting, security, and maintenance throughout the property;
- unacceptable accessibility and response time to students with emergent and maintenance issues;
- persistent understaffing: unstaffed office during office hours, frequently full voicemail box, calls frequently never returned;
- onsite managers inconsistent and not directly accessible; offsite management frequently unresponsive.
We hereby request an immediate and permanent change in these conditions for the safety and security of our student residents, and clear commitments to completion dates for changes.
