OUR CHILDREN DESERVE MORE…
Whilst Ysgol Gymraeg Nant Caerau is a great school, with fantastic teachers and staff, there are issues that have been of concern for some time. When the school was transformed from an English Infant’s to a Welsh Primary, the school held a mere 86 full time pupils. An Estyn inspection carried out in 2012 highlights the fact that in the years following, the capacity of the school would rise.
The school now holds around 250 pupils, a massive increase compared to 2012 figures. Yet there has been no expansion of land, no new buildings attached and a lack of funding for OUR children to have the security, space, and resources that they need. The PTA have worked hard over the years to fund improvements and increase resources such as iPad’s, sports equipment and even vital first aid equipment. However, the PTA are out of their depth with regards to increasing security and space. This is a job for the council.
WE NEED YOUR HELP…
Recently a group has been formed, separate from the PTA. This group are going to work hard to push for change, with the support from the school, we could make a difference.
A petition is being held by various people within and around the school grounds – please sign this!!! The school has a vast amount of space behind it that is wasted and could be used to expand the building, or at least give the children a larger space for play time and sports events. Help us to fight for it and improve not only the safety and security of the school and our children, but also our children’s experience of schooling.
