Becky Adams started this petition to Cardiff Council

An outdoor adult fitness area in Victoria Park and in other Cardiff parks would have a positive impact on the community, creating an inclusive space for adults and older kids to workout and build their fitness skills and strength.

This is even more needed in light of COVID.  Activity levels have gone down, social isolation and mental health issues have increased.  Gyms are not yet open and even when they do, many people feel anxious about returning to an indoor gym.

The installation of simple calisthenics type training equipment such as pull up bars, dip bars and monkey bars would provide a very cost-effective means of promoting physical activity and a healthy outdoor lifestyle. A facility like this would require minimal space and maintenance yet appeal to a large number of local users.

Parks like this make fitness more inclusive, build community and help create a more healthy and active neighbourhoods.  Calisthenics (bodyweight exercise) is a growing sport and is a great way to keep fit and anybody can do it no matter the age.

There is currently very little in terms of adult outdoor fitness facilities in Cardiff.  We do of course have the fitness trail in Bute Park but the way that this is spread out across the park does not promote the community feel or provide a practical place for groups to train. There are also the 2012 Olympic Games legacy outdoor gyms dotted around the city but these are a bit outdated and cronky now.
