Car insurance needs to cover Lyft drivers

I have been driving for Uber for 9 months and recently switched to driving for Lyft.  Two weeks ago I was the victim of a hit and run accident while my Lyft app was open on my phone.  I had no passengers in my vehicle at the time and was not en route to pick up a rider.   I called my insurance company, USAA, and they denied my claim because I had the Lyft app open on my phone at the time.  So I contacted Lyft and their adjuster denied my claim because I wasn't actually on a ride at the time of the accident.   So at this point I have zero income because neither company wants to take responsibility for an accident that was clearly not my fault as the other driver fled the scene immediately.  It was late at night in a bad part of town so I was not able to get a good look at the other car because as soon as I was struck, I pulled over and by then they were already gone.  I do have both a police report and a witness who was driving behind me and pulled over to make sure that I was ok.   I am in danger of losing my home, my car and everything I own as I cannot survive on zero income.   I run an animal rescue for cats and dogs with special needs.   I have a deaf senior dog and a deaf and blind senior dog, two shy Beagle mixes, a small dog with housetraining issues, two cats with leukemia, and 12 senior cats currently in my care.  All of my animals will face euthanasia if we lose our home.   Please sign my petition to make USAA and Lyft be responsible for repairing the damage to my car so I can continue to work.   No one should have to lose everything because their insurance company refuses to provide the coverage that they paid for every month.
