Capitol Hill Dog Park/Off-Leash Area

Capitol Hill Dog Park/Off-Leash Area
Currently, there is not a designated dog park or off-leash area in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. The closest thing is a unofficial, makeshift area in Volunteer Park that uses the amphitheater’s construction fencing as a boundary.
Once that project is finished, those fences will come down, removing the border and opening up the area.
What this petition aims to do is organize public support of a Capitol Hill dog park— the initial (and essential) step in creating a more permanent solution.
Once we have enough people we can then go about next steps, which may look like:
-holding a public forum to see what our main goals are
-create a mission statement
-pick an area (ex: Volunteer Park)
-create a budget and proposal
-**potentially** organizing and teaming up with COLA (Citizens for Off-Leash Areas) who is a group that works in an advocacy and stewardship role with the City of Seattle Park system.
Again, this is only the initial stage in a very long process, but the more signatures and support we have at the start, the better!
If you have questions, feel free to reach out and I’ll do my best to answer them.
Sincerely,
