Keep the full time position of Instructional Support Director and approve funds for a full time district wide Behaviorist
Educators and parents of our community are seeing and expressing a need for a full time Instructional Support Director. At the March 3rd School Budget Proposal meeting, school staff, parents and community members showed much concern over the proposed budget cuts to staffing and the proposal of the Director position going to part time. The results from a recent employee survey states that 80% of employees feel a lack of trust and mutual respect for district leadership. Now, with the retirement announcement of the Instructional Support Director on March 10th it is clearly NOT the time for Cape Elizabeth to transition to a part time director.
Currently, our educators are experiencing a strain due to the lack of a district wide Behaviorist. Having lost this in house position has had an affect on most classrooms. Without this role in our schools, teachers are feeling overwhelmed and under supported and parents are aware of their children's needs not being met and have concerns for safety.
Please understand that these issues affect all of our children regardless of whether they receive Instructional Support.
