I signing because I am a HUGE fan of Resident Evil, and an even bigger fan of Chris, and I myself identify as gay. It may sound simplistic I know, but there’s more too it than that just that. I don’t know who else as heard, but the other day, Capcom devs for the Re3 remake multiplayer “Resistance” confirmed that one of it’s survivors, Tyrone, is Lgbt. My reaction to this is mixed. There is one part of me that’s happy that Capcom is moving forward with its Audience and acknowledging this representation that has been a long time coming, yet there is another part of me that is kinda disappointed that a side character who holds no real significance to the canon, is all we got. When things like this happens, there are good takeaways and bad takeaways. Of course giving us representation is a step in the right direction, but it was such a little step. I don’t know if it’s enough to make me or anyone else feel represented. I would hope that further down the line we get to learn more about our already existing and recurring characters. And if I were to think there was somebody in Resident Evil who could potentially be gay, or bisexual, it would be none other than Chris Redfield. If Chris were revealed, not changed to be LGBT, I would have no words for how thankful I would be. Other than the fact that he hasn’t been in any explicit relationships whatsoever and that he has turned down the advances of Jessica in Revelations 1, Chris Redfield is a man who has had little time to think upon his own feelings, given how he is always fighting for a world free of bio terror. And that in itself is noble, and on track with situations many people can find themselves in. Being so caught up in the world on the outside, they have no time to figure themselves out inside. Of course him being gay wouldn’t have to define anything about his character, his demeanor or arks wouldn’t have to change, and fans would just know a little more about him to feel closer to the character and to the franchise. And that in itself would be awesome. At the very least, I’d like closure on the subject matter. All I can do is keep my fingers crossed, and my hopes high. Thanks for reading everybody. :)

I'm not part of the LGBT community and I don't necessarily agree with this.

I'm signing cause I don't care if they make him gay or bi or what ever. It's a video game character and Chris is just an awesome character. I have no objections towards any gay person by or what ever I believe we all deserve to be happy in the world and the type of person you are attracted to shouldn't matter or effect you. I dislike that lgtb get a bad rep all the time because of extremists forcing their way into media and changing known and beloved characters simply out of spite and pettiness. Make Chris gay sure it's not a problem say it confirm it what ever but it's a video game I'd rather keep sex talk out of our games completely it's not necessary. Chris has never been shown to be attracted to anyone this should be all the characters, but LISTEN HEAR ME OUT. I have no objections with Chris being gay or any character being gay. The problem with making a character gay in a video game how ever is. It is harder to do than a straight relationship. With a straight relationship it is easier to make it seem more natural than a gay relationship (not saying being gay isn't normal it is you like who you like, but a straight relationship is the standard type of relationship which makes it so easy to make feel natural.) I hate it everytime they make a character gay in a game because they always fk it up. Instead of making it look sound and feel natural and normal they always emphasize it and make it feel forced. Forced representation is terrible it does not fit at all, it doesn't just happen with gay characters it happens with straight characters too but it's rare when it happens though. I think the devs should confirm that Chris is gay some how in a totally normal and natural feeling way, have it be mentioned or show through lire or what ever or in a cutscene that he has that interest or a relationship. Like let's say they give a few nods towards it in cutscenes but then have additional lore like photos or something that show him with his partner and then have his partner show up every now and then. Make it natural feeling use creativity to make it feel that way you know what I mean? I'm probably not describing it well but like look at say Leon and Ada for example. It's subtle nods that they have feelings for each other, the way they look at each other, how they go out of their way to help each other when they really don't have to etc... do something like that, like it shows the Chris cares for some guy but make him the way he always is, which is focused on his mission.... that being said it brings me back to my argument that sex shouldn't be included in games or at the very least Chris's case. Chris is a man on a mission he is always focused and hard at work, he dedicates his life to his work fighting b.o.w.'s he doesn't have time for relationships think about it he could have been with Jill a LOOOOONNNNNNGGGG time ago but no he is more engaged with his mission. The man doesn't even keep the same partner more than once he switches partners faster than I can breath. Because he doesn't want to have those emotional ties, it shows in Chris's character development from the beginning in res 1 all the way to res 8 he has become this cold calculating militaristic b.o.w. hunting, Boulder punching muscle machine. It's sad for his character but it's how he has grown as a character. Maybe they can bring him back to some form of humanity some how maybe even through meeting a guy who he grows a relationship with. That's a great idea! Make it so he starts growing a relationship with a character and because of the way he is now he kinda rejects it and doesn't want it but eventually comes around and it's made obvious that he has that gay relationship. That way it feels natural and real and not just kinda slapped on there outta nowhere for the sake of diversity in sexuality. Have it grow like a flower and bloom and bring a little bit of humanity back into Chris and help his character evolve out from being like a cold calculating heartless machine. C: im sorry ik this comment is long and I'm SURE someone is gonna get mad and call me a name instead of hearing me out but I support this. I like the idea of making Chris gay cause why not? The only thing that matters though is that it is done RIGHT and not just stamped on there for the sake of what ever the fk lazily like how they did tracer from overwatch or Ellie from last of us, both felt really forced and I feel like they could have done a better job with it. Okay maybe not tracer cuz of the nature of the game but ellie from last of us they DEFINITELY could have done it better than that. So once again please don't kill me.... I disagree with it if they r just gonna slap it on there outta of but fuck nowhere.... I agree with it if they make it meaningful and do it correctly making it feel natural. C:

I am pretty much a die hard Resident Evil fan, and have always dreamed of this. FIY: In my mind, he always has been gay and always will be.

It's time the LGBT+ community get a hero to represent us inside the Resident Evil franchise and Chris Redfield is the perfect character to do so.

I am signing because it seems as though Capcom did in fact develop Chris as a gay character; but they simply don't have the guts to make that officially known as a canon fact. His connection with Piers was literally palpable, as was the personal devastation to him when he lost Piers. Chris is a strong, powerful gay man & is a wonderful representation for the LGBTQ people within the gaming community. It would show that Capcom has the balls that they gave to Chris if they would make that fact official.
