Escaped burros are impacting Horseshoe Canyon in Canyonlands National Park. Their presence in alcoves is threatening the sensitive cultural resources in the canyon. Their movement and grazing is contributing greatly to the erosion of sensitive cryptobiotic soil crusts. Healthy cryptobiotic soil crusts are important for ecosystem and watershed health. Please pressure Canyonlands National Park to take action to preserve this special canyon.
