Install lights at Hughes Park dog park
This petition had 86 supporters
Hughes Park dog park is a wonderful community resource, allowing local residents to exercise and socialize their dogs. However in the short winter days the park is unused and unsafe after dusk falls, as early as 5.30pm - well before many people are home from work. Once it's dark people cannot supervise their dogs, clean up their poo and there is a risk of trips and falls.
We are calling on Canterbury Bankstown Council to install lighting in the park to make this community space more used. Installing solar powered lights that turn on at dusk and turn off at a reasonable hour (e.g. 8.30pm, the time it gets dark in summer) would allow more people and dogs to use this space and would have minimal impact on local residents.
