Why this petition matters

Recently parking in the Borough of Canonsburg has changed to 24/7 metered/ ticketed parking.  Canonsburg is a  small town of approximately 9,000 people that thrives off of small business.  I did some research and found that even Pittsburgh stops ticketing at 6pm.  This recent change during economic inflation does nothing but hurt small business.   How can we expect to have more businesses move in or the ones open even make it without affordable parking that is not 24/7.  Our town is made up of many different age groups. How is it fair if my 80 year old grandma has to drop off her cat early morning and if she doesn't have money for the meter or a smart phone to figure out parking she is ticketed 10 dollars.  This is nonsense. If my daughter is doing flips in her dance class she has to be on a buzzer or receive  a ticket?  This is causing disruptions to many local businesses,  undue costs during tough times, and creating hardships for patrons and business owners.  I ask why the change?  I ask parking to be restored to the original hours and 24/7 monitoring to be done away with.  If we continue down this path no more businesses will want to move to this small town, patrons won't shop here, and all the "extra" money made off of parking will be non existent!   Please stop 24/7 metered parking in our small town unless you want to further sink small business!
