Lorraine Northway started this petition to Cannock Chase District Council and

The boardwalk off Brook Square has not been damaged now for several months. Cannock Chase District Council and Staffordshire County Council should urgently use our resources to sort this out.

This is part of the highway and no area of such should be left in this sort of state for months on end. Residents, pedestrians and business owners alike deserve so much better.

An awful lot of money, month in, month out is sent by a hard-working business people and residents to the Councils. Surely some of this money should be used to fix the boardwalk as soon as possible.

Leaving it with signage ‘footpath closed’ for months on end, especially in an area that is so central to the main part of our town is just not on. Rugeley is not closed and therefore none of it is important highway/pathways should be either.

Rugeley Town Centre has so much to offer and Cannock Chase District Council is letting us all down by not fixing problems, like the boardwalk. Rugeley people want to see Rugeley’s money spent in Rugeley. This is a classic example of the fact that the funds have been withheld and it is time for this to change for good.

I want people to sign this to support the fact that proud folk of Rugeley will not stand aside and be treated like this.  If something is broken in the town, we pay the Council to fix it. We want to see that their duty of care to us is full and complete and we are not just left dangling for months on end waiting for them to fix something.

If this was somebody’s house or business this would have been fixed months ago. The Councils have a duty to the rate payers and the wider community to fix the boardwalk as soon as possible. It’s time to find the funds, There must be contingency for when things go wrong. People have to do that in a household or business, so we expect the Councils to do the same.
