Lack of shared governance, lack of transparency, administrative bloat while firing professors! The Canisius mission of caring for the whole person is crucial, especially during a pandemic.

I am signing this petition in support of the long tradition of faculty governance and the rights of labor that must not disappear in educational institutions. I fear that the firing of 25 professors sets a horrible precedent for the dismantling of tenure, and therefore academic freedom.

Thank you.

To lose the Classics in any form at a Jesuit institution is saddening and to see colleagues from a variety of fields treated so unjustly only makes that sting feel worse.

Canisius College is better than this! I urge the current administration to revisit these ill-considered actions and return to the core values of the institution.

This petition points out the current attitude of many higher education institutions: bloat the administration, skim the teaching.
