#SaveMethodistChurchInIndia. Cancel REB’s Registered under Indian Trust Act, 1882.
Why this petition matters

Methodist Church in India (MCI) has 1088 properties worth millions of rupees all over India which belongs to its members. Few worthless, hopeless, criminal minded Bishops and their henchman have caused a great and irreparable damage to MCI and its administration across India.
Today, the Council of Bishops (COB), the Central Conference, the by-law & the Articles of Association of Executive Board of Methodist Church in India (EB-MCI) are NULL AND VOID in all the states except Maharashtra & Gujarat because Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Central Act) has been struck down at different year in different states.
What? How can it be NULL & VOID? Yes.. you heard it right.
The Executive Board of Methodist Church in Southern Asia was Registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Central Act) on 19-05-1942 as Society and the Act was applicable to WHOLE OF INDIA. Also, in 1950, The Executive Board of Methodist Church in Southern Asia was registered under Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. Later on, Executive Board of Methodist Church in Southern Asia renamed as Executive Board of Methodist Church in India (EB-MCI) now it is known by its short name - Methodist Church in India (MCI).
After State Re-organization act, 1956, Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Central Act) was struck down in almost all the states. Henceforth, all the trusts/ societies operating under the said Act were REQUIRED to Register themselves under the provision of the respective state trust/ societies Acts.
Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 has been re-enacted in 1956 and adopted such that it is applicable only to Maharashtra State.
A section 25 company-The Executive Board of Methodist church in India Trust (MCITA) was registered under section 8 of companies Act, 1956 in 1981. This being the BEST SUITABLE TRUST, the EB-MCI could have brought all its administration, churches and its properties under this trust, but EB-MCI could not do it for reasons best known to them. May be a legal blockage!
So, after, 1956, the Executive Board of Methodist Church in India (EB-MCI) lost its jurisdiction in almost all the states except Maharashtra and Gujarat. The administration of REB’s that are located across India (Except Maharashtra & Gujarat) were handled from Mumbai office till 2016 illegally.
From 2016 onwards, the corrupt, greedy & ruthless Bishops with malicious intentions started registering Regional Conference Boards (REB’s) under Indian Trust Act, 1882. The Executive Board of Methodist Church in India (EB-MCI) which was a Public Trust has become a Private Trust overnight.
Now, REB’s are being run at the whims and fancies of the SETTLOR-BISHOPS. The hard-earned funds of the church which comes from the tithe given by immense faith of the congregation, charitable donations, fees and other hard-earned income of the members is routed to REB’s Accounts.
ALL THE SETTLOR’S—BISHOPS of REB’s, PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF IT THAT MCI, MCITA & REB’S ARE NOT YOUR ANCESTRAL PROPERTIES. They belong to public and Methodist members in particular. You cannot write a WILL as per your wish and run REB's at your whims.
So, we the members of Methodist Church in India through this petition insist you to.…
- To cancel ALL REB’s that were registered under Indian Trust Act, 1882 with immediate effect.
- Conduct a survey of members of Methodist church in India and list all the members in the Membership Register’ of MCITA.
- Register a new society in place of REB’s with immediate effect under respective state societies registration acts and link them to MCITA. MCITA can be a centrally Managing Body which can have supreme power over-REB’s running in the states.
- Adopt a Democratic Election Process at par with the constitution of India NOT as per the Book of Discipline.
- COB, no more decisions to sell, lease or mortgage MCI properties until a lawful system is established in MCI all over India.
- Ban all the Bishops / Executive Members contesting elections for any post of MCI having CRIMINAL CASES against them until acquittal by the court of law.
Through this petition, we, the members of Methodist Church in India request the state Govts to ...
- Declare REB's registered under Indian Trust Act, 1882 as unlawful public Trust and cancel them under section 77 of Indian Trust Act, 1882.
- Take sue moto and issue a notice to Bishops of the REB’s in each state asking for an explanation under which act, the church, its institutions & administration is running.
- Direct the Bishops of REB's to Register the activities of the church, its trust under appropriate provisions of societies / trust registration act in the state as MCI is, was and remain a Public Trust forever.
MCI members.. let’s join hands to sign at least 1 lakh signatures to bring The Executive Board of Methodist Church in India (EB-MCI) under an appropriate law so that we can question the wrong doers.
