The Pedalheads swimming program has been opened up to the general public, with non-residents able to access our pool facilities. This was approved by Strata without consent/votes from residents, or making residents aware in any way until the deal was already done. It is believed that this breaks the Strata Property Act as to make a change like this, as there should have been a 3/4 vote in order to proceed. We the residents of Escala are requesting an immediate Special General Meeting so we may voice our discontent and strong opposition to this program for the reasons outlined below:

1. Opening up Escala’s pool facilities and providing access of our building’s common areas to the general public creates a major security concern for residents.
2. The pool facility is currently being maintained through the strata fee that is paid by residents. Opening up Escala’s pool facilities to the general public creates additional and unnecessary wear and tear to the pool facilities, which in turn will have to be paid for by residents.
3. Allowing individuals from the general public to use Escala’s pool facilities means that residents will have even more limited access to use the pool, which again, is being paid for by the residents to maintain.
4. The guest parking is meant to be used by residents to accommodate their guests. It is not a public parking lot. Furthermore, there are already limited spots, and allowing the general public to use these spots will create even more strain on Escala residents who are trying to find parking for their guests.

The demands we expect to be met from this meeting are:

1. Immediately stopping the current program and prevent any non-residents from accessing our facilities.
2. Enable the Pedalheads program for residents ONLY.
