Maia Kobabe is a cartoon illustrator and author of the novel "Gender Queer" which is a pornographic LGBTQ cartoon book. This novel is currently in public libraries and accessible to children. Maia and state officials are very aware of the controversy this has caused as the book has been challenged; however, it is still permitted in some states. I personally reached out to Maia voicing my concern about the book being in the hands of underage persons and children and Maia blocked me. Maia is clearly aware of the issues that come with this book and we must ban these books and they must be removed from school book shelves immediately. There are other ways to go about diversity in literature. This is not it.
