Dear parents and community,

I need your support by signing this petition to agree that we need to see the end of Halloween in our children's schools, churches and community. As a trained child phycologist with years of experience working with both mainstream and children with physical and or mental challenges, decades of science have taught us that terrorising children in any form is psychological maltreatment, and like other types of child abuse, it harms a child in many ways, especially by disrupting their relationship with the adults they desperately need to trust.

I know this because my son who was 3 years old at the time he had a horrible scary moment in his daycare where all the lights were turned off in the name of scaring the kids for Halloween and fun. Since that day my son has begged me never to let him go to daycare on Halloween. Fortunately, I could do that the following years and now he is in a school which has a none Halloween policy in place.

I would like to see Halloween cancelled, particularly in schools and churches. Over the years I have witnessed more and more children expressing fear and extreme fatigue after Halloween parties.

A lot of young people are depressed, and I believe there's a strong connection with darkness. Although we only have Halloween once a year, the effect on the spirit, body, and soul lasts a lifetime if not dealt with.

As parents, we need to understand more about how these Halloween parties affect our children both mentally and spiritually. We need to build trust and not trauma in our children and community. Children  need to trust that the world is safe and not have unnecessary fear due to the ignorance of the adult around them.

I believe by cancelling Halloween, which is a demonic fest our nation will experience light again, and at least one of the problems will be solved. The world is experiencing so much darkness and we don't need to glorify another day to celebrate evil. Our children deserve love, peace and joy, not fear projected by the people they love and trust. The church belongs to Christ, a place of healing, deliverance, peace and restoration not a place of fear or promoting evil. Light and darkness can not be together.
