Both teachers and students have been extremely overwhelmed by being placed back to online learning due to the unfortunate CUPE strike. Part of the overwhelming factor is due to the extra assignments that have been assigned to students, because of the strike. While at home, it is hard to focus all in its own, and can be extremely overwhelming to some students. With the term ending shortly, and the CUPE strike being negotiated, students should have a short break before they return to classes for their mental health, because being at home and looking at a screen the majority of the day can have drastic impacts on students. It is understandable that Cardy said the work is not mandatory, however there is assignments that still count and are still due and attendance that is still kept track of. A break would take the pressure off for students and give the chance for one’s that have fallen behind to catch up.
