Canadians have the right to assess whether or not medical cannabis is a viable treatment option. The fact that many Canadian insurance companies and employers actively bar and reject coverage for these patients, is against basic human rights laws in Canada. Canadian medical professionals who invest time and training in this area, should have the confidence to care for their patient body without the fear of them walking away from treatment. Patient's are deterred from the treatment they have found to be effective due to financial burden. As a highly evolved first world country, federal and provincial government of Canada should also evolve with recent medical evidence. There are limitless opportunities for both private and public insurance companies to create medical cannabis spending accounts that would benefit both parties involved. The federal government should take the lead in advocating for Canadians in all provinces and territories. Today, as shown in the news and in research deaths and/or complications due to opioids and pharmaceutical interactions are straining health budgets. Medical Cannabis has promise to aid in re-routing patient outcomes. Let people heal without Judgement.
