Address Quality concerns, and limited options, of sheep tagging systems required in Canada

In Canada, Sheep producers are Federally required to tag sheep for traceablity with RFID tags. This is a great way to maintain disease control and accountability. The problem lies with the Governing body, Canadian Sheep Identification Program (CSIP), limiting the allowable tags to only two options, both styles of Tag are expensive. Quality issues with the Shearwell one piece tags breaking or bending depending on environmental conditions is unacceptable. The design of the Allflex two piece Button tag lends itself to being ripped out. I would like to see CSIP push to rectify the quality issues with Shearwell and approve another company to provide a second one piece tag option to maintain a competitive marketplace. This should provide producers like myself with quality options at a competitive price, when we are REQUIRED by the Government to purchase the product. Thank you for your time, and support!
