There is no credible scientific evidence to support the Canadian Senate's claim that culling 70,000 grey seals will help solve the issue of depleted fish stocks in the Atlantic (which has been caused by overfishing). Instead, I propose using the money to fund training and support of a new livelihood for Canadian fisherman: Organic Food Factories using Aquaponics technology.

Please revoke the Canadian Senate's recent decision to slaughter 70,000 grey seals in the Gulf of St Lawrence.

There is no credible scientific evidence to support the Canadian Senate's claim that culling 70,000 grey seals will help solve the issue of depleted fish stocks in the Atlantic (which has been caused by overfishing).

Instead, we propose that the Canadian Senate use the money to fund training and support of a new livelihood for Canadian fisherman: Organic Food Factories using Aquaponics technology.

Aquaponics is an organic food factory that produces up to four times more food than conventional soil agriculture, using 90% less land and WATER than conventional agriculture in the process. No expensive chemical fertilizers or pesticides are needed or can be used. Not only do you get vegetables and soft fruit such as melons out of an aquaponic system farm, but also tonnages of tilipia and other fish species using far less water than conventional farming.

Benefits of this solution:

1. Reduce stress of overfishing in our oceans that is impacting all marine life.
2. Introduce a new and valuable livelihood to fishermen & their communities.
3. Help grow the economy in a sustainable way.
4. Increase the supply of organic fish, vegetables and fruits in Canada.
5. Protect the grey seal population in the Atlantic Ocean.

We look forward to seeing the Canadian Senate step up, think outside the square and utilize this new solution that is outlined above as an inclusive solution that will benefit all.
