We are petitioning Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and other Global Leaders to act and bring Joseph Kony to justice. We are standing with Invisible Children's Kony 2012 campaign to make this rebel leader accountable to the world for his crimes against the people of Uganda and surrounding countries. Please watch the video, sign the petition and share it with your world. We say, Enough!
Then, write a handwritten letter to Prime Minister Harper, demanding that Canada takes an active role to secure the arrest of Joseph Kony and stop the LRA. In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr.: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." We care about justice for all.
You can send it to Prime Minister Harper at:
Office of the Prime Minister
80 Wellington Street
Ottawa, ON K1A 0A2
No stamps necessary.
We, the people of Canada and the world, demand that Canada and our global leaders step in to intervene.
Please also write to your Member of Parliament. Here is an example, but *please* individualize the letter, so the MP will read it:
"As a Member of Parliament and our representative, it should be your honour and duty to turn our interests into the national interest, and it is our wish for Canada to be a world leader in a global push to have Joseph Kony captured. I most earnestly urge you to take up this issue in the House, and if possible, with key members of our government, including the Prime Minister.
It is our hope that, in this way, the arrest of Joseph Kony would become a foreign policy objective for Canada; that the Prime Minister and the Foreign Affairs Minister would discuss this issue with their counterparts whenever the opportunity arises; that this issue would make it to the forefront of United Nations discussions. It is our hope that from this concerted, global action will be taken to stop Joseph Kony and his LRA, with Canada at the vanguard of any mission undertaken for this cause.
We cannot stop until Joseph Kony and the LRA are completely immobilised, because they will not stop committing atrocities until we take action."
