Mohawk Bear started this petition to Canadian Government and

The purpose of this petition is to gather enough attention and signatures to show the Canadian/provincial government the importance of Indigenous peoples. September 30th was declared as Indigenous People’s Day, but other than the title, there is nothing being done to honour Indigenous people. Canada has committed mass genocide and stripped Indigenous people of every human right possible. Simply declaring a day as “Indigenous People’s Day” is not enough. This day should be recognized as a day of mourning for all of the lives lost in the construction of “our home and native land”.

To this day, Indigenous people do not have clean water on reserves, access to healthcare and reputable education. They continue to be victims of police brutality and systemic racism- the Canadian government has verbally taken ownership of their actions, but they have yet to implicate a plan to fix their wrongdoings.

The government needs to do better. For this to happen we need to fight for the people who cared for this land, and whose spirits were broken by the ignorance and fear of the Canadian government.

Please sign this and share until the government gets this message.

Indigenous people are still here and we are not leaving our home.
