Canada must lower the language requirements for immigrants. This is because even though French is one of the national languages of Canada, most Canadians’ mother tongues are more likely to be English or another language. To be specific, 23% of Canadians are reported to have a mother tongue that is not English and French, compared to 21% of Canadians whose mother tongue is French. Furthermore, 78% of this 21% are from Quebec, so French is not very common outside of Quebec. Furthermore, studies have shown that the children of immigrants have tend to seek post secondary education more than the children of non-immigrants. Moreover, these immigrants are typically found to be those of African or Asian descent, rather than of anglospereic descent.
